Several people were injured in a stabbing incident at a church in Walkley, approximately 30 km (18 miles) west of Sydney's central business district, according to police authorities on Monday. A police statement confirmed that a male suspect has been arrested and is currently assisting the authorities with their inquiries.
The injured individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are currently receiving treatment from paramedics, as per the police report.
Local media sources indicated that the attack occurred during a church service, where a church leader and multiple worshippers were reportedly stabbed. Videos of the incident circulating online depict a man lunging and stabbing a speaker.
This incident marks the second stabbing event in Sydney, following a knife attack on Saturday that resulted in six fatalities at a mall in Sydney's Bondi area.
